The Mariners were playing the Wauchope Giants and had come from behind wins in both grades.
The A Grade side fell 3-0 behind after one innings but clawed back one run in the second innings when Jack Day had a safe hit and was batted in by Nathan Ellul who recorded a safe hit to left field.
The highlight of the game came in the third innings when the Mariner's Matt Lindsay recorded a safe hit to be on first base.
Coach Todd Reid signalled for the hit and run and Lindsay accelerated towards second base. Batsman Warren Collins smashed the ball low past the left hand of the pitcher and all looked perfect until the Giant's second baseman Mick Gough pulled off what can only be described as a major league worthy double play.
Gough dived to his right, took a rocketing line drive for the first out, then rolled over to tag Lindsay as he slid towards the base.
Not to be outdone, the Mariners scored the winning run with a perfectly executed bunt play.
Jack Day started to steal home when Nathan Ellul dropped a ball up the first baseline to score the run.
The Mariners ran out winners in a great 8-5 come from behind win.
In a great all round performance Tim Harris and Jack Day recorded two safe hits while Mali Boller, Matt Lindsay, Warren Collins, Matt Lenton, Nick Maxwell, Todd Reid, Rod Dures and Nathan Ellul all had safe hits.
Coach Todd Reid named Matt Lindsay man of the match mainly based on his excellent fielding in centre field including catching two deep hit fly balls.
In B Grade the Mariners ran out winners mainly due to an outstanding game by Jason Kirkpatrick who had three safe hits and executed a brilliant unassisted double play.
Safe hits were recorded by Frank Reilly(2) and Marty Dures while walks were gained by Jacob Deline, Marty Dures, Damien McAnarney(2), David Connor and Lili Prosser.
"A massive club effort. Brilliant pitching, solid defence, perfect bunt, two double plays. We did everything we needed at the crucial points of the games," a club spokesperson said.
