The real win on the day was seeing the proud black and red colours once again adorn the field, with the match result an extra added bonus.
The team has been training hard for several weeks and this clearly showed in both their individual skills and their combination as a team.
Last season, the Bombers struggled to recruit sufficient players to enter teams in their own right, with many keen players joining the Manning Valley Mustangs so they could stay involved with their favourite sport.
That continued involvement has contributed to a growing interest locally, so a dedicated group of volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the club was re-activated and that local kids have the chance to enjoy their sport of choice in a local environment.
Registrations are still open and any player born between 2007 and 2011 that's interested in playing AFL can still join the Bombers.
Paul Taylor, Community Football Manager for AFL North Coast, said that AFL is a sport for everyone.
"The different playing positions within teams provide great scope for players of different body shapes and sizes, and for varying physical attributes such as speed, endurance, power, and agility. Not only that, but AFL is also a game for both genders, with the relatively recent addition of the AFLW competition showing young girls that there is a pathway to playing in an elite national competition.
"The core band of volunteers at the Bombers have done an amazing job to get the club up and running again in 2020 and deserve huge amounts of credit.
"Just like the playing ranks, there's always more room for helpers across a wide variety of roles, whether that be goal umpiring, canteen helper, or ground manager on match day, or helping on the committee for those who have skills in this area.
"If you have a passion for AFL and want to spend time with others who have a similar love, want to contribute to your community, or just love being involved in kids' sport, the club would love to hear from you.
"With the housing boom in areas like Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills, and the new sports complex at Cathie which will the Bombers will move to once open, the club is poised to go ahead in leaps and bounds in coming years."
