The state government is also assisting Scouts to replace the Second Port Macquarie Scout Hall roof under the COVID-19 stimulus program.

Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams said the iron roof, which was old and rusted and prone to leaks during rain, would be replaced with a new roof to protect the building's integrity.

Scouts Australia NSW North Coast Region Commissioner Ian Hale said sound property infrastructure played a pivotal role in the delivery of the Scouting program and the development of community relationships.

Mr Hale said Scouting, especially regional Scouting, had suffered greatly over the past several months, and this funding would relieve the pressure on Scouting members and their families who volunteered many hours to fundraise for repairs to their halls.

Scout groups located on Crown land across the state will get a spruce-up to their facilities with the assistance of $1 million in statewide funding.

"Scouts NSW is one of our state's largest and most successful youth organisations building leadership skills, resilience and friendship while offering an extraordinary variety of activities for young people, so it's fantastic to help secure their future," Mrs Williams said.

Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said the $1 million would assist regional communities with work while strengthening Scout halls and facilities on Crown land.
