It certainly has been a year like no other, and with spring now upon us it brings back memories of the devastating bushfires that our region experienced late last year.

Sadly, many in our community are still feeling the impacts from the bushfires, and council remains committed to assisting wherever we can.
So if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch, or visit our website where there's lots of support information available.
There are so many people in our community who kept us safe during the bushfires, and it's not just those who were on the front line battling the blazes.
To say thanks to all those that played their part we're looking for artists to create a number of gratitude murals in prominent places around our region.
There'll be murals created in Lake Cathie, Beechwood, Long Flat, Pappinbarra, Rollands Plains, Wauchope and where I am today at Westport Park in Port Macquarie.
So if you're an artist who's keen to have you're interpretation of saying thank you displayed as a mural please get in touch through our website, but don't delay, you only have until this Sunday 20 September to express your interest.
The murals will accompanied by a thank you wall, where all of our community can come and write messages of thanks.
This is an important and exciting community initiative, and the murals will be unveiled at a special event later this year. I'll have more information on this for you soon.
Bushfire season has already started, so don't forget how important it is that we all have a bushfire plan, and we discuss this with our families.
One way you can do this is by visiting your local RFS this weekend for 'Get Ready Weekend'.
A number of our local RFS branches will be available to provide advice on being prepared, and what to do should a bushfire be threatening you.
You can find out more on the RFS website rfs.nsw.gov.au.
Stay safe everyone.
