Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) has urged residents and visitors to the area over the school holiday period to remain vigilant and continue to practice good hand hygiene and social distancing.

Port Macquarie-Hastings and Camden Haven businesses will be the frontline of defence ensuring COVID compliance, but the responsibility remains with every person wanting to enjoy the best our region has to offer.

MNCLHD, NSW Police, and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council are working together to keep the region safe.

"We are much better prepared than we were since late January and we have learned a lot in that time," said MNCLHD chief executive Stewart Dowrick.

Director of North Coast Public Health Unit Paul Corben said these school holidays will be the real test of just how effective the simple safety rules can be if everyone complies.

"We are not asking anyone to do anything different than they've been asked to do at home," Mr Corben said

"Practice good hand hygiene and keep your physical distance when in open spaces."
