The good news is that on the long weekend in October (October 3-5) it return to the Kendall School of Arts with a String Academy for community musicians and young artists from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
The weekend features events that will respect physical distancing regulations and reduced seating capacity.
The program includes four 50-minute recitals by young artists, a recital by artistic director Goetz Richter (violin) and Jeanell Carrigan (piano) and two community workshops for string players from the Mid-North Coast.
The academy is made possible with the support from the Kendall Community OpShop.
"A return to live music making is much welcomed by young artists especially since the past months have seen a devastation of Australia's musical landscape," Keri Levy said.
"Orchestras, small ensembles and individual performing musicians have been silenced and many musicians have lost their livelihood.
"While some have found creative voice in online media platforms, the nature of performance and musical experience is entirely different in the virtual world.
"The nature of music as an embodied and immediate communication requires audiences to gather and share the listening experience and we hope that listeners and community musicians from the Mid North Coast and Camden Haven and Hastings areas and friends of the Kendall National Violin Competition and Kendall PhiloMusica vigorously support this weekend."
All proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Kendall National Violin Competition which will return to Kendall in March 2021.
