The meeting is at Wauchope Arts Hall, starting at 10am.

The group's main aim is to raise awareness of the plight of asylum seekers, particularly in the Australian context and lobby local, state and federal government for just policy regarding asylum seekers.

It also raises financial support for various local and national initiatives and causes relating to asylum seekers.

The group has facilitated the resettlement of several refugees - mostly Tamil people from Sri Lanka - to live in Port Macquarie and to work, study and contribute to the local region.

This support ranges from English lessons, accommodation assistance, advocacy, help with social services such as Centrelink as well as social and emotional support.

The group also collaborates with Home Among the Gum Trees which is an organisation who offers refugees supported holidays in regional parts of Australia.
