A 'Live From the Porch' gig has been arranged as part of Artwalk Wauchope 2020.
The music kicks off from the Arts hall porch from 3.30pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020. This is the final day of ArtWalk 2020 and the same afternoon as the nearby ArtWalk Artist Market in Bain Park.
All four local acts selected to perform had previously been booked to open performances before COVID-19 forced the closure of the Arts hall.
The show will open with the sweet sounds of singer, musician and popular choir director Rose Wilson. Rose is a vivacious and versatile performer who delights in exploring different styles, instruments and musical 'toys'.
Jim and Sue Newman from Bonny Hills are regular performers at venues and markets across the Mid North Coast. Jim's skills hand-making acoustic guitars are well-known in the music world, along with his skills at the desk as Wauchope Arts' in-house sound technician.
Emi R is a young singer-songwriter, musician and independent artist who returned to the area after working and studying in Melbourne. Her industry credits include recent Original Sound Lounge performances and a venue MC role at Woodford in 2020.
The final act is Stix-n-Stonz, a three-piece percussion ensemble based in the Hastings. Musicians Michael Eddie, Gianna Douglas and Geri Doyle add vocals to an interesting mix of percussion and ukulele to produce their own toe-tapping slant on African and Middle-Eastern grooves.
Music-lovers across the district are invited to bring their own blankets or chairs and refreshments and to take up an appropriate, socially-distanced position in front of the Wauchope Arts hall porch before settling in to enjoy the show.
"Come, find a spot in the carpark or on the grass in the park nearby and return to that magic place of live music and community," Krissa Wilkinson said.
"This gig may not be along the lines of our usual offerings, but our team is really pleased to be sharing music as part of this celebration of community creativity."
ArtWalk Wauchope offers residents and visitors the chance to engage with various art forms via Wauchope's own footpath gallery. Look out for the ArtWalk logo at participating venues or download the Izi.travel app for information about the artists.
Wauchope Community Arts Hall is located in Oxley Lane, opposite Bain Park. For more details see the Wauchope Arts website and social media pages.
