Club juniors, Ziggy and crew Riley showed the oldies how to do it by coming second, on adjusted times, on their Flying Eleven, Intrepid.
First on corrected time was the Impulse of Warren Sykes, Runamuck, well done Warren.
They were followed by Sea Horse with Bob Locke, Dave Castleton on Laser, Buzz; another Laser, Frantic sailed by Richard Ceal; John Geange on the Maricat, Inspired II, and Rick Smith bringing up the rear on adjusted times.
Conditions were fairly fresh, with a couple of swims among the fleet. Rick nose-dived into the mud and was stuck fast with the stern out of the water for a while.
The following Saturday 24 October was to be the third heat of the Kew Corner Store point score but with the weather gods predicting 30 knot winds and thunderstorms the sailors were seduced by thoughts of warm beds and tots of rum, so no sailing.
The storm and winds did not arrive and so a perfect days sailing was lost. Thumbs down to the Met Bureau on this occasion.
This week 31 October is the fourth and final heat of the Kew Store point score.
