This week I visited our Glasshouse to meet with the Gallery's curator, Bridget, and budding artist, Olivia.
I was delighted to learn all about a new Community Art Exhibition, which will be one of the first events in our Bicentenary celebrations in 2021.
We invite you to pick up a canvas for $5 at council customer service centres at Wauchope, Laurieton, or Port Macquarie, and create what represents our region to you.
Olivia has already started brainstorming. She has lived in Port Macquarie since 2011, and enjoys a sunrise swim every morning. She holds the beautiful weather and beaches in our region very close to her heart, and will use this as inspiration for her canvas.
I'm excited to celebrate this milestone as a community, and can't wait for all of the events during the Bicentenary

But there's a budding artist in all of us! The canvases are available now, so get your artistic cap on and show us why you love our region. There's 200 on offer, and all the details are on the entry form.
Once your masterpiece is created, you'll have until January to drop it to the customer service desk at the Glasshouse. Special care will be taken while it's stored until it is put on display next year during the Bicentenary exhibition.
I'm excited to celebrate this milestone as a community, and can't wait for all of the events during the Bicentenary. Until then, unleash your inner artist, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
