I hope like us you have had a chance to relax and unwind from what was a very challenging year.
This year brings new hope, and I am pleased to report several Covid-19 vaccines are in final trials and production - and the Australian government has secured supply of 138 million doses.
The new year will see my focus remain on assisting our farmers who are still battling the drought and working with our towns and villages to rebuild following the bushfires.
There are many exciting projects big and small across our towns and villages that are taking shape thanks to the federal government's record investment in our region: Lorne Road, Bago road and Waitui road upgrades; Community Hall and Showground enhancements; Footpath roll-outs in Camden Haven, Laurieton, Kendall, Comboyne and Wauchope;Scrubby Creek and Thompsons Bridge upgrades; Lake Cathie foreshore reserve Master Plan Stage 2.
Round five of the Building Better Regions Fund
Local communities across our region, are a step closer to sharing in $200 million under a fifth round of the successful Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
Throughout rural and regional Australia, we have $100 million targeted support for tourism-related infrastructure to get tourism back on its feet, while maintaining $100 million for broader community infrastructure and investment.
Our towns and villages have already benefited from previous rounds of the BBRF with investments in crucial projects which have driven economic growth and delivered local projects that provide lasting benefits.
