Locals who have gone above and beyond to serve our community will be recognised with a 2021 Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day Award, to be announced on January 26.

Nominees are: Young Citizen -Blake O'Connor, Luke Meier-Smith, Molly Kemp; Senior Citizen - Gordon Gray, John Eggert and Phyllis Hollis; Citizen - Ellen Crepaz, Lisa Willows and Robyn Rawson; Environmental Citizen - Judy Love and Susan Baker; Community Group - Fellowship of Australian Writers Port Macquarie-Hastings, Friends of Mrs York's Garden, Port Macquarie Rotary Club, NSW RFS Lake Cathie Brigade, The Hastings Education Fund, Wauchope Show Society.

The official ceremony is at the Glasshouse, at 9.30am. Reserve a free ticket from the customer service desk.

"Without these dedicated and passionate people, our community would lose the spirit that makes our region a wonderful place to live in," said mayor Pinson.

Activities: Westport Park from 8am - seated live entertainment, comedy, magic, arts, crafts, and food stalls; Pool partiesat Laurieton and Wauchope; Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders "come and try" day; a marine display on the Hastings River between 10am and 2pm; market stalls on Town Green.
