Mrs Hoare initially arrived in Australia as an Irish backpacker in 2002 and met now-husband Glen while travelling separately in Thailand.
They both returned to the Gold Coast in 2005, then moved to Lakewood. The pair created Kendall business, Simply Beauty in 2018.
"I've been in the Camden Haven since 2008 and had my two children here at Port Macquarie Hospital. I associate this as my real community here," Mrs Hoare said.
"I looked into doing my citizenship, I've decided I really want to vote and have my voice heard as a business owner."
Members of the public are invited to attend the annual Australia Day official ceremony at the Port Macquarie Glasshouse on January 26.
Doors to the theatre open at 9.15am with the ceremony commencing at 9.30am.
Mrs Hoare said she's nervous about attending the ceremony because becoming a citizen is a such special process, not just a formality.
"Australia has provided me with so much, my husband, two beautiful kids and I now feel part of it myself. It's important to me," she said.
"I've got family back home in Ireland and they are proud of me for doing this. I think they will be able to watch by live stream and there will be a little Australia Day party with the neighbours in Lakewood."
