Staff from Service NSW are now stationed at the LUSC on Thursdays from 10am to 4.30pm to help Camden Haven residents access the Regional Seniors Travel Card. The service is in the second year of a two year trial across the region.
Residents are able to apply for the $250 prepaid credit card for use in taxis, petrol and transport, without traveling to traditional centres in Port Macquarie or Wauchope.
Port Macquarie and Wauchope Service Centre manager Peter Dawson said people can also book a free appointment to discuss over 70 government rebates and savings.
"We have had over 200 people attend LUSC in the last four weeks to use the service. Our highest was 160 people in a day, but generally we are averaging 60 people per day," Mr Dawson said.
"We also have a mobile service centre which comes to help the Camden Haven community every eight weeks. It has been prompted by the amount of people in the Camden Haven who are eligible for the RSTC that don't go online.
"We have come to an agreement with the club to provide the service here so people don't have to travel into Port Macquarie or Wauchope.
"It's beneficial for people who may have limitations with transport. It can be helpful for older people who don't have access to a computer or smartphone, and it can be a positive experience for people who don't like to talk to apply for these services over the phone."
