The co-operative, which is a subcommittee of the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce has opened a survey to members of the public regarding the future of tourism and accommodation in the area.

Co-op chair Anna Battersby said the co-op is promoting discussion and seeking feedback about tourism and culture.

"Tourism is a huge part of our local economy. Visitor interest in our slice of paradise has grown in recent times through the wonderful and often unpaid efforts of our community," she said.

"Overnight domestic visitors on average each spend over $150 per day and internationals spend on average over $250 per trip. They buy goods and services, stay in our vacation rentals, eat and drink in our local pubs, clubs and restaurants.

"Visitors who stay overnight in accommodation are the biggest contributors to our local economy and visitors from afar have a higher tendency to buy from our small local proprietors like butchers, bakers, greengrocers, seafood shops, clothing and homeware shops and newsagents.

"Tourism has evolved in numerous forms up and down the coast over the past three decades, some developments have been welcomed and others not so much.

"This is your chance to influence the direction of tourism in the Camden Haven. With this information we can help you, our businesses and community, shape our future."
