You less than six months to decide if you are ready to stand at the next council elections

Stand: Mayor Peta PInson encourages community members to stand for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council at the September local government elections.

On September 4, we have the opportunity to elect a new council.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has nine elected representatives, and I'm urging anyone who has a passion to see our region grow and be the best it can be, to stand for council.

As the first woman elected to the role of mayor in our region, I really want to see more women put their hands up for this position, and use their voices to make some amazing change.

We have such a diverse community I'm hoping to see that reflected in our council of representatives chosen to champion our community in the next three years.

There's only six months until we make this very important decision.

I'd like you all to start thinking about who you want on our council.

Running for council may not be on the agenda for you, but maybe you know a passionate community member who would do an awesome job advocating on behalf of us all, to deliver our shared community vision.

I'm going to stand again as I am passionate about creating a vibrant future for our region, and truly enjoy listening to your views and expectations, and supporting them.

If you're interested in being a councillor make sure you get all of the information you need from the New South Wales Electoral Commission.

I look forward to hearing new voices advocating for positive outcomes in our region.
