The girl guides are partnering with other units to clean up areas of Laurieton on Thursday, March 4. The group takes part in the activity each year to empower girls and young women to become confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.
Camden Haven Girl Guides spokewoman Kim Woodhouse said the clean up is a great way to give the girls awareness of the community.
"We do the clean up each year and it's part of the program as a service to the community. Clean Up Australia is something that lot of the guides around Australia do," she said.
"In previous years we have done a clean up around the shopping centre. I think things have improved a lot over the last few years and we are not collecting as much as before.
"I think it's important that girls are seen in the community doing the right thing, it's good to show the community that the girls think about other members of the public and the importance of keeping the local area clean.
"When they are picking up stuff, it can make them more aware of their own community as well."
The group also collect cans and bottles from the Laurieton Riverwalk Markets to recycle.
