Police were called to a house in Bonnyrigg, near Fairfield, about 11:30pm on August 31 after reports shots had been fired into a house.
Nine people, including two children, were home at the time but no one was injured.
Police will allege the shooting was part of an ongoing tussle between two gangs that resulted in a number of public shootings in September.
After a six month investigation, detectives stopped a ute in Mt Pritchard about 5.45am on Friday, arresting the 19-year-old driver.
A search warrant was then executed at the man's home in Mt Pritchard, where police seized cannabis.
The man was charged with firing a firearm at a house with disregard for safety and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Friday.
