The Lions begin their 2021 season against the Swans at the Gabba and Zorko says the 183cm athletic midfielder has made a compelling case to be a part of the team.

"He's a huge possibility of playing," Zorko said.

"He's done everything right.

'It's going to be a challenge for him if selected, balancing the excitement of going to school tomorrow and finding out and all of that."

Sharp was taken with pick 43 in last year's AFL draft but the national 2000m Under 18s steeplechase champion has been impressing all preseason.

He clocked a sub nine-minute time in a 3km time trial in January and was impressive in last Monday's preseason trial win over Gold Coast.

Taking to the field after Cam Rayner's season-ending knee injury in the second quarter, Sharp kicked a goal and had 10 disposals in a display which earned praise post-match from coach Chris Fagan.

Sharp, who attends St Laurence's College in south Brisbane, has clearly made his mark with Zorko since arriving at the Lions.

"If he does get selected he'll bring a lot of excitement. He's a very hard runner which is something we need and he's a great acquisition," Zorko said.

"He carries himself so well he's a very mature young man."

Sharp is just one of several Lions putting their hand up to face the Swans, in a sign of Brisbane's depth heading as they aim to quickly erase the pain of last year's preliminary-final defeat to Geelong.

"Tom Fullarton, Connor Ballenden for that Dan McStay role, and Rhys Mathieson - potentially Harry Sharp, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Dev Robertson - there's a headache there for Fages and the coaches group," Zorko said.
