Sadly your quest for luxury living will need to continue as this multi-million dollar Tasmanian mansion just sold for a record price.
The historic property on Launceston's Brisbane Street was listed for a cool $3.5 million, but was sold on Tuesday morning for an undisclosed amount.
Although Parry Property listing agent Katrina Garwood could not disclose the sale price, she said it was a record for residential property in Launceston.
"We can't find anything else [that has sold like it]," she said.
The buyers were a married couple local to the area.
"From the moment they walked in, they were meant to be there," Ms Garwood said. "I think [the previous owner] is pretty stoked."
Former owner Bronwyn Shakespear said she was delighted that a local couple had purchased her beloved home.
"They are the most lovely couple and they are so excited. I firmly believe they are here for the long haul," she said.
The property, fondly known as Glenfruin, is an example of early period Italianite architecture on the exterior after receiving a transformation in the 1920s. The interior, however, is ultra-modern.
MORE PROPERTY:
The property includes privacy, high ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, formal and informal dining, a floating timber staircase, built in wardrobes, ensuite, terraced gardens, a double carport, room for extra vehicles, video security and pin code entry, and water views.
"It's just lovely that [the property] made a record. Tasmania is doing so well," Ms Shakespear said.
Ms Shakespear had purchased the home in 2018 for $3.25 million after selling her home in Deloraine. She decided to sell Glenfruin due to family reasons.
