The Regional Sport Facility Fund grant was promoted by Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams in Kew on Wednesday, July 14.

Wauchope Timbertown Tennis Club also benefited from the same category of funding with $253,628 provided for the establishment of four hot-shot courts, upgraded lighting and construction of a disability ramp.

Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said the grant in Kew would improve sport infrastructure for the sport-loving community.

"Sport is part of the fabric of community and this grant will allow the club to upgrade one of their bowling greens as well as golf paths," Mrs Williams said.

"The club continues to undertake major improvements for the benefit of their members and I am always more than happy to help them where I can."

Round one of the NSW Government's Regional Sport Facility Fund provides $50 million over two years for new and upgraded sports facilities in regional NSW.

The fund provides grants to councils, local sporting bodies, state and national sporting organisations, state sporting organisations for people with disability and private enterprises.

Minister for Sport, Natalie Ward said the fund will help promote healthy lifestyles across regional NSW while stimulating local economies and boosting employment.

"The NSW Government recognises investing in new and existing sports facilities plays a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of NSW residents," Mrs Ward said.

"The Regional Sport Facility Fund will promote improved health and wellbeing, and create a construction boom across regional NSW as part of the NSW Government's multi-billion-dollar infrastructure pipeline."
