A food catering van called 'Travelling Millie' has been organised to serve coffee and cake on site in Kendall, while the main building is repaired.

Baking will still take place at the Kendall Tennis Club commercial kitchen before being transferred to the van each morning.

The family-owned cafe lost all its contents, equipment, food, utensils, furniture, keepsakes and grandma's handwritten recipes during the recent flooding.

"We are just getting the van set up at the moment as our temporary cafe. We will be serving cake, coffee and light meals from here but I'll still be cooking at the tennis club," she said.

"At the moment we are talking about changing from our originally six days a week, to being closed Wednesday and Thursday to give us two days of building.

"We are aiming (to open the van) for mid-August about August 20. It's going to be a different set up but we will be serving takeaway and have some outdoor seating.

"It's been a therapeutic journey from cleaning up, salvaging and working out how we would trade. Learning to let go of how we were and discover how we will be.

"We now have a clean slate and we can build it how we want."

Jenelle said she is dedicating the return to the amazing support from family, friends and the community who have devoted countless hours to helping the rebuild.

A GoFundMe page to help repair and rebuild Miss Nellie's Cafe has reached $34,400.
