It's understood the initial release was approximately 30,000 tickets for the October 3 decider at Suncorp Stadium.

A second release of the remaining tickets will be made on Monday after this weekend's preliminary finals, offering fans of the two clubs contesting the decider the chance to attend.

Club members will get first access to the remaining tickets before any outstanding seats are put on general sale on Monday afternoon.

A capacity crowd of 52,000 is expected for the match, which is the first NRL grand final to be played outside of Sydney.

The breakaway Super League's 1998 decider was played in Brisbane but this is the first time a unified competition's grand final has been played in Queensland.

"It's no surprise to see our first release of tickets sell so quickly," NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said.

"Next Sunday will be an historic day for our game and for Queensland.

"It'll also be a fitting celebration of the most unique season in our history."

Suncorp will also host this weekend's two preliminary finals, with South Sydney facing Manly on Friday and Penrith tackling reigning premiers Melbourne on Saturday.

AAP understands approximately 15,000 tickets to each match had been sold by Monday afternoon for the first finals this year in a major centre - after games in Rockhampton, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast and Mackay in the past two weeks.
