I know how important sport is to the community right across our area especially as the state emerges from lockdown.

These grants will help local clubs increase participation by addressing barriers, delivering sports development programs and upgrading equipment and facilities.

Sport brings communities together and goes far beyond the physical benefits - it strengthens social networks and can be a vehicle for skills development and job creation.

As we return to community sport, this funding will support projects of grassroots sporting clubs which are at the centre of many local communities.

Clubs can receive up to $20,000, with up to $50,000 available for each electorate in NSW.

NSW Parliament green lights electric vehicle laws

Motorists in NSW are now closer than ever before to getting behind the wheel of their first electric vehicle (EV) with the NSW Parliament giving the green light to the legislation underpinning the NSW EV Strategy.

The NSW government has committed $490 million towards EVs, helping to cut taxes, provide $3000 rebates and install ultra-fast EV chargers right across the state.

By 2030, we want EVs to comprise at least 50 per cent of all new car sales, helping us reach net zero by 2050.

Drivers who registered a new, eligible EV on or after September 1, 2021 can apply for a refund of the stamp duty and one of the 25,000 rebates worth $3000. Applications are now open.

With one-fifth of carbon emissions in NSW coming from the transport sector, and almost half of those coming from passenger vehicles, this strategy will help us halve our emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.

This policy will see increased model availability for NSW motorists while also cutting the costs of EVs across the board.
