The Kew resident is passionate about sewing and he's created wrist cuffs in an effort to raise funds for the Koala Hospital Port Macquarie.

The business is called Cool Cuffs, where $2 from each sale is donated to the hospital to help injured and sick koalas.

"They are one of my favourite animals," Arden said.

Arden believes it's also important to protect koala habitat.

"There should be less eucalyptus trees cut down," he said.

Arden's mum Lauren said she's proud of his efforts, as it's teaching her son about giving back to those in need.

"He came up with the idea of the cuffs, created his own pattern and then rummaged through my sewing fabric leftovers and buttons to get started," she said.

"He has purchased his own supplies using his pocket money."

Arden donated $18 to the Koala Hospital from his first batch of sales on October 27.
