The event was sponsored by the St Agnes Recovery Support Service (RSS) and held at Kendall Showground on Saturday, January 8. It had been originally scheduled to run in November last year.
Kids' activities on the day included face painting, Troppo Bob's Magic show and a supervised jumping castle provided free of charge. The event also supported local charity 'Aussie Battlers' based out of Laurieton, which benefited from the sausage sizzle proceeds.
St Agnes Recovery Support Service manager Julie King said the event, postponed due to poor weather and COVID restrictions, was the perfect way to check-in with the Kendall community to see how its members are faring after the devastating impact of floods and bushfires in recent times.
"We specifically wanted to provide something fun for the children of the Kendall community who have had to overcome significant adversity in the last few years," she said.
The organising team included Allison Haylett from the Kendall Community Centre, Toni Holmes and Danielle Price from the RSS. The team had to overcome problems along the way due to the spread of the COVID Omicron Variant and some volunteers having to isolate due to being close contacts.
With the help of Toni's daughter, Tahlia Holmes, and Danielle's partner, Nathan Farrawell, the gaps were filled and the event went off without a hitch.
"It was great to bring a bit of holiday fun to this small, resilient community. Everyone enjoyed it immensely," Julie King said.
