Construction of essential infrastructure at their new Batar Creek site was halted with the group required to resubmit their development application and reorganise electricity works late last year

The 10 acre Old Coach Road site already contains horse shelters, a riding arena, fencing and rider facilities after they were relocated from Camden Haven Showgrounds in November 2020. A watertank is due to arrive later this month.

The new site was gifted to RDA by landowners, Lindsay and Anne, on a 20 year lease with five yearly lots.

Kendall RDA president Jenny McGregor said the group is close to finalising construction at the site.

"We are so close, although there has been some disappointment with the cancellation of our electrical pole to be install on December 1," she said.

"That is now happening on January 13 and we will line up electricians and plumbers for that day.

"We are really anxious to move the horses over and we are crossing fingers that everything goes to plan with the septic installation and electricity. It's been extremely frustrating with set back after set back recently."

Around $5259 was donated to the group from the Bato Memorial Golf Day, $1740 split between the Westpac Helicoptor and RDA from the Kew Bowling Club's RDA and Westpac Fundraising Day, and $5320 from a NSW Government Community Building grant last year.

"We still have quite a few of the riders calling to see when we will be open. It will be a building process again for RDA this year," she said.

"We have a dedicated base of volunteers but we will need a few new ones for leading the horses, feeding them and things like that. We will be on the lookout for people who would be happy to help out.

"If we can get this moving, we want to get going as soon as possible. We have had two years now since March 2019 of the move and COVID-19."
