The Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce is looking for runners to get involved and get up the mountain for one of our most popular events on Sunday, April 18.
Event organisers, Nathan Pensini and Gordon Wiegold are formulating the finishing touches for this year’s event but Nathan urges all school, athletic clubs and social or serious runners to grab an entry form and register.
There will be categories for walkers, fancy dress entrants and more serious runners.
The costs are being kept to a minimum to cover operational matters and adults can register for $10 and school age students for $5.
“The money will be poured back into a few prizes and a social barbecue and post-race celebration up the mountain,” Nathan said.
“It’s all about getting in and having a bit of fun as the Chamber tries to grow the event into something much bigger in coming years.”
Chamber president Peter Winfield met at the top of the mountain with Council’s Sports and Events Manager, Mark Ella, recently and discussed the idea of turning the vent into a major attraction over time.
“Mark was very taken with the picturesque North Brother atmosphere and the ideas we had to make this into a major athletic and social event moving forward,” Peter said.
“It is great to have his in-principle support but we are also looking to further help from Chamber members and the broader business community to donate prizes and other forms of voluntary support.
“I can see the day when this event will become a full weekend event with school children running on a Friday, our amateur runners and walkers on a Saturday followed by a Sportsmen’s dinner that evening, and then a professional race on Sunday with a big prize kitty up for grabs.”
