Johnston win the ball for A Grade and S. Gunns was the best in B Grade. Next week's game will be a Single Stableford and the starters will be G. Butlin and G. Clarke. The A.G.M. will be held at the Bowling Club after the game. The Sunday raffle will be administered by I. Johnston, B. Johnston and P. Edwards. Another one of Winston Churchill's comments re golf was "Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose".

Minor final went to Pepe Green defeating Jimbo Gill.
Thursday 29.1.2009
Major final went to George Walker defeating Col Bloomfield.
Minor final was won by Brian Lenard defeating Colin Cook.
Here's a thought for the week:-
...Why is it that runners up in Snooker win a voucher for a dead chook and the runners up in Australian Open Tennis win half a million dollars? Are we playing the wrong sport??....but I bet you they don't have as much fun as we do!
Until next time....
Good potting.

Bonny Hills Beach Hotel Social Golf.
John MacIntosh turned up to golf last Sunday with a bevvy of beauties hanging off his arm. The Bonny Hills group were joined by 4 young female golfers from Canada last week and they impressed with their golf, politeness and good humour. Coming from the Canadian winter, the ladies struggled with the high temperatures, but the Irish 3-Ball was cool.
After golf, it was announced that the Bonny Hills Beach Hotel had continued their community spirit and donated $500 to the Taylor Latimore rehabilitation Fund.
The winners of the Irish 3-ball were Marie Carroll, Diana Molony and Johnny MacIntosh, with a 16 hole score of 76 points. Obviously, John must have had a rush of adrenalin running through his body with all these women wanting his company. Marie Carroll was on fire, contributing her fair share of points with 42. Diana Molony struggled early but she claimed that she came “good” later, especially at the 18th and 19th holes. It was reported that one member of the winning team couldn’t reach the Ladies tee, even after he had played 2 shots.
Close behind were Carol and David Middlebrook and Harry Harris, with 72 points. David played excellent golf, driving and chipping well. However, on the par 3, 15th hole, he lined up for the 3 metre putt and managed to roll the ball approx 20 cms. A comment was heard from one of his playing partners “it must have got caught in his skirt”. Harry overcame his crowd phobia and got off the 1st tee with a good drive. This group won most of the other prizes; Carol won NTP Ladies (12th), Harry won NTP Men’s (9th), David won NTP Men’s (12th) and Men’s Longest Drive. Jenny Jackson won the Ladies Longest Drive.
Third spot was taken by Roger Miles who played with Helen and Edna from Canada. Helen is an excellent golfer and is captain of her home club and contributes to a lot of junior development in her home country. Roger returned a very good personal score with 5 pars. Perhaps, the group hugs that occurred when he played a good shot inspired him.
Finishing 4th were Jenny Jackson, and Wendy and Holly from Vancouver. 5th place went to Tony Carroll, Lukus MacIntosh and John Mason. One member of this group became exasperated with his putting, 3 putting on at least 11 greens. It required other members of the group to report the facts as this player wanted to avoid too much publicity.
Finishing 6th were Geoff Irvin, Tom Scrine and Allan Jackson. They had only a tale of woe. Jacko had a lopping episode, hitting 4 trees on one hole. On another hole Geoff hit 2 balls over the fence – a very unusual event. Tom went to lay up on one hole to avoid going into the drink. Four shots later, he was near enough to the creek to hit the ball over the water. Paul Dickson and Wendy Middlebrook won the Bradman Award.
Stableford scoring was difficult with 16 holes and a number of cards were almost disqualified – even the Events Manager and the kitchen were disqualified. However, our former Used Car Salesman came through (albeit under duress) with his negotiations and we got lunch and went home content.
The next event will be an Ambrose at Kempsey, on February 15 beginning at 8am.

Wauchope-Bonny Hills SLSC
We had our second of three ‘Pointscore’ Days on Sunday with a large turn up of kids keen to get the maximum number of points. The surf swim wasn’t an easy one nor was the board event however, most kids had a go at it and some surprised themselves as to how well they went!
We have had large numbers of kids signing up to do their Basic Resuscitation Course well done – it will definitely be a skill you will have for ‘life’. Board Training – Lake Cathie on again this week Friday 4:45pm.
Sprint training – Lake Cathie Oval Tuesday 5:30pm with Buck.
Next week can we please have everyone who is competing at the WBH’s Carnival to be at the beach for a Planning Day 8:45am (which will be a training session) – we will put everyone into teams & we’ll practice all morning, particularly the ‘Team Events.’
Don’t forget that WBHSLSC is hosting the MNC Surf Life Saving Championships on the weekend of the 14-15th Feb (the same weekend as the Barefoot ball), so it will require a massive effort from everyone to run this successfully. Please assist where you can (nippers compete on the Sunday.)
Kendall Fishing Club
Our January outing was held over the weekend of January 9, 10 & 11 and it seemed the fish were either on holidays or hiding from all the traffic on the waterways. As it was we had 11 people turn up for the weigh-in, some with fish and some without. There were 24 fish weighed for 6 kilograms of weight. Dylan Baldry concentrated on the estuary and won the junior section. Jenny O’Neill won the ladies section, Allan Sandersan won the men’s section and Ray Elliot won the veteran men’s section. Tim Burns narrowly missed out on winning the men’s section and put his secret of success to catching fish to the absence of amber liquid in the boat.
This weekend will see our February outing held with fishing from Friday afternoon until the weigh-in on Sunday at the club at 1.30pm. All those interested in our proposed trip to Manilla should attend as there will be an announcement made as to when we will be heading out over the hill. Good fishing this weekend and we will see you at the club on Sunday afternoon.

LUSC Men’s Social Golf
Fourteen starters Sunday morning for a 2 man Ambrose. Welcome to two new members (Chang and Barry) and one old member (Les). Les cleaned up the NTP’s in A grade while Bob did the same in B grade, I hope the handicapper’s reading this. Les also teamed up with big Al to take home the vouchers while Riddo (voucher one week, pink shirt the next) – Bruce got the NAGA on a countback. Don’t forget Wauchope on February 22, 6.15am tee off and also we have a trip away to Nambucca on April 5 which is always a great day. Apparently last week I wrote that Phil got the 2nd shot where it should have been his high handicapping, burgling son. “Sorry!”
