It was a ‘boy’s night out’ on Wednesday 5th March. With Miss Vicky MIA & 40+ retiring hurt, the blokes had it all their own way. Winner of the Majors, for the second week in a row was Colin Cooke (ICAC has been notified). Steve Ingrey returned from a long stint in the wilderness to take out Runner-up. Steve’s lost none of his fine touch but his hefty minus handicap is a huge challenge to overcome.
The Minor’s final was taken out by another Steve, visitor Steve Harding, who calls in at this time each year and also plays off a minus handicap. Runner-up was Mick McInally.
The presence of the two Steve’s made for some intense, challenging games this week.
40+ was relieved to be sitting on the sidelines and watching others getting their butts kicked for a change.
Looking forward to seeing lots of players tonight. Names by 6.15pm for 6.30 start.

Queens Lake Sailing Club
What a great day!
Eight visitors from Port Macquarie Sailing Club, nine of our own boats and a lovely 10knot SE breeze under blue sky. What more could we hope for.
A busy start line and an over-eager skipper saw Bumsteer recalled for a premature start and the rest of the field get away to a very bunched start.
Flembuoyant and Watt Fun soon had clear wind but the catamarans, Decisions and Flat Chat did not take long to establish a lead with their superior speed.
First home was Flat Chat followed by Decisions, Flembuoyant, Watt Fun, Zon, Chilli Pepper and Black Pearl. The racing was quite keeneven down to the tail-enders and all enjoyed the day.
On yardstick handicap Watt Fun (George Watt) was first from Flembuoyant (Paul Robertson) and Bumsteer (Greg Marshall) with Decisions, Ratchet, Full Tilt and Zon close behind.
Queens Lake also ran a handicap event in conjunction for our own boats. This was won by Watt Fun, from Ratchet (Peter Lentz), Bumsteer and Mammoth (Paddy Holt) sailing single handed instead of crewing for his father. In a result that saw only seconds separating several boats, these were closely followed by Rumpus, Full Tilt, Flat Chat, Moth and Anything.
This year is the 20th year of racing for Queens Lake Sailing Club.

The winners of the CHAFT shirts were Giggles and Paula (even with that par) from the Bakers.
Many contenders for the Happy Gilmore award with many of the men failing to make the ladies tee, Christine’s fine use of the bridge to get across the water and Paula for spending the day getting in touch with nature in the trees.

What a difference a few points can make. After some players jumped up and down that the new handicap system was a rort all of a sudden the system has started to show its potential with club champ Glen Kunze throwing crackers under a few players. He hasn’t been seen in any finals for the last two weeks. Tuesday Major Final last years winners “Charlie Angel” just got home against a very hot player “Backpacker.” Minor Final Peter Mayne puts his skills to work took out “the Kunze” twice in one night then took on “Lady Thea” and a big handicap “not a problem.” Now that’s the Peter we used to know.
Thursday Major Final “The Poet” arrives on the scene “Back Packer” shapes up. Don say’s “Let’s see what you’ve got Ralph” “pow” is that all Batman. Showed you. Minor Final “The Snakeman” puts the bite on “The Farmer” but Keith will be back.
Wingham was a handful - they tried hard. Their young players took it straight to the Laurieton big guns but lacked experience locals 21, Wingham 10. We encourage them to keep up the good work for our re match August 31, 2008 at Wingham. This weekend see’s a strong team head up to Tamworth for the weekend - good luck boys.
Two Balls.
Camden Haven Dragon Boats
As last we had some great weather - the Tuesday paddle was worth waiting for - our change-over boat handled really well and we had an hour's paddle under the Dunbogan bridge. Thursday afternoon the conditions were just as good. Nice to see a couple of juniors in the boat - well done Hannah and Morgan - keep those arms straight! We are getting very spoilt - Saturday morning dawned another magic morning and after a lengthy paddle we had Kevin Budds on the back of the boat trying his hand at sweeping. Thanks Kev and well done, the crew were very comfortable with you up the back. Sunday saw some paddlers go down to Taree to the regatta - Derelle Douglass, Alison Haylett, Jan Hubbard and Lyn Buckley competed in the mixed masters and women's masters events and gained second place in both finals. Lyn Buckley competed in the Dragons Abreast event and this crew came in in first place. Kathryn Myers, Margaret Budds and Kevin Budds had their first taste of a regatta and can't wait for the next one. Well done everyone. The community spirit is very much alive and well and many thanks go to Camden Haven Marine for donating the identification numbers for the dragon boat. See you on the water.
