The 2005 footy season has began again. The under 7 Legends are back bigger and stronger starting the year off with two great wins at the Taree gala day against the Panthers and Red Rovers. Coach Richard has returned with six of his old players. Harley, Riley, Talyn, Jackson, Eddie and Blake. They welcome the new boys to the team Jake, Daniel, Blake C, Izak and James. The old fella's in the team enbraced the new boys and the teamwork as a well oiled machine. They are going to be a force in 2005. Tries were scored by Blake C 3, Talyn, Blake H and Riley all bagged 2 and Harley and Jake both scored 1. Well done Eagles. Good luck to our old team mates who stayed in the under 6s Matt and Jack. Fly high mighty Eagles. That's gold boys.

Under 8
Finally the footy season has arrived again. On Saturday we made the trip down to the Taree Knockout. With only a few players left from last years under 7s, we didn't think we were going to get a team but all of a sudden the kids got talking and we were able to field a team with seven of last years players backing up and with a great new recruit called Brandan Halliday we were able to field a side. In our first game the boys were full of excitement and have definitely improved from last year! All of the boys are now able to do offloads which makes the games very exciting. We managed to have an eight all draw with the Taree Panthers.
Our second game was against Taree RSL Red Rovers. In this game the boys seemed to play a little more ocnfident than the first game with offloads and big hits coming left right and centre. In a very exciting game we managed to win 16 Nil. James had 3 tackles, 5 runs and 1 great try, Marcus had 10 tackles, 5 runs and picked up his second try of the day. Darren had another huge game with a massive 23 tackles and 6 runs. Darren also showed the Red Rovers just how fast he is by scoring 2 great tries as well.
Well done boys, coach Tony was very proud of the effort the boys showed as we had no reserves.
See you all at training on Thursday at 4pm.

Nova Under 12As
Another great game by the Supernova girls. The netball these girls are playing is outstanding. The games are played at such speed you'd think you were watching the Sydney Swifts. These girls have learned so much in just a short time with their super coach Katie. The work and effort you put into these girls at training and the games is a credit to you, thanks Katie. As the old saying goes winning isn't everything. How true this is we may have lost 2 out of 2 but the skills we are learning and fun we are having is just as sweet as any win. The team members are Leah, Teleah, Maddi, Brooke, Lucille, Gabe, Naomi and Sarah.
The girls vote Katie's the best coach, the parents vote, we second it.
Kendall Fishing Club
Our March outing was held on the weekend of 12 & 13. We had Anglers from four years to 74 year match their wits with the elements to present our weigh master Rusty with 48 fish. Notable catches were Rod Latham's flathead of 3.3kg and Glenda Barr's bream of 400 grammis. Our youngest member Thomas Crossfield fished as hard as his four years allowed. I think we might have a budding Rex Hunt on our hands as his release technique including a kiss put his dad Matt and skipper Al to shame.
Winners on the day were Glenda Barr in the ladies with 7 fish to 1.9kg, Matt Crossfield in the mens with some nice tailor in the bag of 11 fish to 5kg. Margaret Sandersan took out the lady veterans with 5 fish for 2.9kg and Barry Sandersan in the veteran mens with 10 fish for 3.4kg.
This weekend is our second last for our current year. If anyone is interestd in joining our club now is a great time to come along and meet everyone before the new competition begins. It has been suggested that there may be a need for a freshwater section for next year so if you are interested in this idea come along on Sunday to our weigh in at 3pm. Good fishing and we will see you at the club on Sunday.

This event is special to us this year because our social golfers and supporters of our raffle (on Thursday nights) co-sponsored the event to the tune of $500. Another $500 is to be spent on a development programe for Camden Haven Junior, Wauchope Juniors, Port Macquarie Juniors and Kempsey Juniors in the near future. I will keep you posted.

LUSC Snooker
Thursday night March 24, the loss to Tamworth has injected new spirit into our local team. Captain Glen has turned this loss around we just got "too cocky" it will be a far more determined team that greets the mountain boys when they bring "our shield" back and the Captain is on the lookout for players that can handle small cues in a narrow room when we do this trip next year. The major final saw the Farmer consolidate his lead for "Beechers," truck load of meat, runner-up "Go-Otto" continues to knock out the big names but just falls short in the finals. Minor final, who said handicaps don't work "Lady Thea" showed "Cooke" the door in a fine display, don't take this Lady too lightly, she will kick your butt.
Tuesday March 28, Major Final both these players have been around. 40 and 50 years ago their names struck terror into the young hopefulls up and down George St "Big Smoke" smooth Lenard must be smooth who else could pull the plug on "Charlies Angel" Ron Howell. But like Ron says come and see me after you have read the whole book not the first paragraph (now these are the sort of games that draw attention) Minor Final the Farmer continues to "Fire," runner-up bad luck "Cooke."
Thursday March 31, move over Farmer boy here come the big guns "The Kunze" v "Jimbo Gill" in the game of the year, what a game Jim got 43 start but don't let that fool you, Glen can score more than that in the blink of an eye. Jim keeps looking at the old school photo but there's nothing wrong with those sort of memories. Minor final one out and one back Ray McLaughlin used to pull the whip on the best of them but Don "The Poet" is an old rails runner from way back. Yes LUSC the home of snooker "Doesn't get any better than this." Will you be there Tuesday Thursday 6.30 sharp.

Once again, please, will you all watch what you are doing, when recording the scores for the "singles games." I would like to suggest, that you get the last "singles" player to do the recording, like some of the ladies teams are doing, already. This would keep the sheets a lot neater and easy to read...Thank you, Rae.

LUSC Lawn Bowls
Our numbers were down a little on Thursday 31, but everyone that was there had a very enjoyable afternoon. There was only one game of championships played B Suann, Jim Price and Les Frost were winners over K Watling (Sub), Les Smith and Stan Gunns. There will be no championships played next Thursday April 7, owing to the big bowls event. The social bowls winners were on Rink 18, D White and Alan Clarke, and runners-up on Rink 3, R Schindler, Ron Church and fearless Fred Easterbrook on Rink 3. The lucky raffle number winners were Darren White $20, Fred Charlwood $10, and David Massey collected $5, and the $25 each winners were Les Dykes, Ron Church and Fred Charlwood, some people have all the luck. I saw a grey headed old fellow Graham, crying in his beer, someone must of bought it for him, because for the first time in months, he didn't win a prize. Please bowlers, make sure you have your name on the players sheet if you want to play, it makes it very inconvenient if you turn up and your name is not on the sheet. If you aren't sure, ring bowls secretary Bob Nixon on 6559 5117 before 10.30am on Thursday morning and he will be only too happy to fix you up. One Birthday this week, Mike Carney April 1, now we can understand his problem. We had Ron Marchant with us, who belongs to Rydalmere Club, but has moved up here now, so we will be seeing him regularly from now on. Sick list Ron Hardie, John Small, John Mason, Roy Johnson, hurry up and get fit we want to see you all on the green very soon. You all know about the bus trip to Nambucca Heads on April 10, I hope you have got your names on the sheet by now, and the sheet will be up soon for our BBQ on Sunday May 22, at LUSC. More information later. Hope the unwell folk soon get fit and don't forget, be kind to your neighbour.
