His recent Winter Paralympic debut was almost three years to the day after his life was changed dramatically when he was hit by a car and in his own words "scraped off the road".
This life changing event severed his leg, left him with brain and countless other injuries and fighting for his life. For the first 28 days of his six-month stay in hospital, Trent suffered post-traumatic amnesia while the following 12 months were spent recovering, largely on his back.
Despite this horrific accident Trent turned tragedy into a positive and found the courage to find a new dream of competing in the Paralympics.
Trent is the latest One Local Hero due to his inspirational journey and never giving up on his goals. He will no doubt put the $200 donation towards his preparation towards his next Paralympics and although Trent is 41 years old, as he said "age is no barrier" - so true when you have a spirit of courage and determination. Congratulations Trent - you are a well deserving Local Hero.

You can nominate a Local Hero - someone doing great things for the community, inspiring others, helping others, a quiet achiever or reaching for the stars. Each month a local hero will feature in the Camden Haven Courier newspaper and website and receive a donation of $200 from the team at One Agency North Haven.
Tell us in less than 200 words why the person you nominate should be recognised as One Local Hero.
Include the name and contact details of yourself, the person you are nominating and one referee to validate the nomination. Send your nominations to Renae Tate at One Agency via email (renaet@oneagency.com.au), post to 605 Ocean Drive North Haven or via the One Agency North Haven page on Facebook. Winners will be judged on merit by the One Agency Team and the Camden Haven Courier.
