The defending premiers are favourites after a convincing win against the Sharks 36-14 in the major semi finals. The boys coached by Paul Calicetto take on the Sharks at Wauchope on Saturday and hope to bring home the shield to the Camden Haven once again.
The Under 13 squad consists of Jackson Brannigan, Max Harris, Wyatt Lawrence, Kaine Cafe, Hayden Birbeck, George Simiani, Cooper Lewis-Bain, Jaxon Millar, Jaison Burge, Ronan Bailey, Charlie Murray, Davy Roe, Tom Walker, Tom Crossfield, Jackson Wadell, Liam Betts, Robert Morris, Liam Bragg, Brad Kneipp and Zac Calicetto.
President Harry Harris said, "We have had a great year. We only had 4 teams in the competitive competition and all 4 made it into the semi finals. Our Under 13's finished first and now see themselves as favourites for another title win. Our Under 12's coached by Brent Steep also finished as Minor Premiers but were unfortunately knocked out in the Preliminary Finals by Taree Panthers. They had a hard battle because they had to play the Major Semi Final twice in 3 days against the Port City Breakers. The Under 11's coached by Jamie Sharpley finished 3rd on the ladder and were knocked out by Gloucester in the Minor Semi Final and the Under 10''s, coached by Chris Hanlon also finished 3rd on the ladder but were beaten by the Breakers in the Elimination Semi Final."
The Eagles are extremely proud of all their teams who made it to the finals and are enthusiastic about some great teams coming through the ranks from the Mini League. The Under 6, 7 and 9's all had extremely successful seasons as well.
"There is a great feel at our little club at the moment", Harris said. "Our teams are successful because we have coaches who are teaching our boys good, basic football skills. We pride ourselves in teaching the boys to play fair yet give it all for their team. The boys love coming to training and having fun with their mates. Even though the season has ended for the Under 12's, the boys have convinced their coach to have one last training session this week. They just don't want it to end!"
The club has a very small but hardworking and dedicated committee. They recently hosted a Gala day for the Mini League teams. Over 34 teams from Taree, Foster, Port Macquarie, Lake Cathie and Wauchope participated. The club made it a family day with jumping castles, footy passing boards and sprint races for each age divisions between the clubs. The club also joined with the Camden Haven Netballers to hold a disco at the LUSC.
Secretary Brett Lewis-Bain said, "Our committee only consists of about 10 people but they are so dedicated and only want what is best for the boys and the club. We are holding our AGM soon at our Presentation afternoon and we really hope to get more people on board to help out. It can be very rewarding to be involved in your child's sport and the boys just love having their parents involved and helping to build our club."
The Presentation for all age divisions will be held at the LUSC on Sunday September 28 from 3-6pm. A big shout out goes to all the people of the Camden Haven to get over to Wauchope on Saturday morning to cheer on the Under 13 squad. Come dressed in your red, black and white and help our small club bring home a premiership. GO THE EAGLES!
