Fires at Broken Bago State Forest and Camden Head could been seen and smelt across much of the region.
On Friday, back-burning in the area known as the Flower Bowl in Kattang Nature Reserve was supervised by NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) crews from nearby Bonny Hills.
The fire behind homes in Bergalia Crescent, Camden Head remained under control.
The NSW RFS website suggests residents take the following steps if there is a hazard reduction burn planned for your area:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
- Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clotheslines
- Ensure pets have a protected area
- Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
- Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety.
Local NSW Rural Fire Service crews will continue to monitor the burns.
