Take the opportunity to listen to some heartwarming music and lyrics on Thursday, June 2, when Hastings Choristers present Wintersong 2016.
This delightful short program of songs is just the thing to warm the soul as winter brings temperatures down.
Cantabile and Cantorus choirs will be directed by Robyn Ryan OAM on the mezzanine level at the Glasshouse.
Cantorus, the soprano, alto, tenor, bass mixed voice chorus, is renowned for quality performances of big choral works such as Mozart Vespers, Handel's Messiah, Faure and Mozart Requiem.
For Wintersong they will delight audiences with a lighter set of pieces arranged and conducted by local musician Glenn Moore, former musical director of Port Macquarie-Hastings Municipal Band’s Senior Band concert unit.
Their second bracket is the short but gorgeous Missa Kenya (Kenyan Mass) by Paul Basler, featuring the choir, a small ensemble, fluegel horn and percussion by Mark Spence. This glorious piece features the rhythms of Africa in a joyous, uplifting choral song.
Cantabile female ensemble has a large local following and will once again have patrons in raptures with their first set of songs, followed by some popular numbers, including two Abba songs – Mamma Mia!
Local violinist Margie Cassegrain and accompanist Lydia Wills will support the two choirs.
“What better way to warm your heart and hands than to listen and appreciate the vocal talents of our own Hastings Choristers,” Ryan said.
Make your way to the Glasshouse mezzanine for the 6pm concert and you'll be at dinner by 7.30pm.
It’s the perfect end to a busy working day. I had the pleasure of attending last year’s Wintersong concert which was a delightful experience the audience absolutely loved.
The Hastings Choristers present a concert with variety and great lyrical content and invite you to share a drink with them (included in your entry ticket).
Tickets are just $20 for adults, $18 for concession and $10 for students.
