Carving up the public reserve were two cars, headlights blazing, with occupants screaming and yelling, witnesses told the Camden Haven Courier.
It’s not the first time the reserve, the site of the monthly Riverwalk Markets, has been ripped up by thoughtless drivers performing doughnuts and sliding turns.
Under the cover of darkness these wannabe stunt drivers take to the reserve, making it difficult for witnesses to see registration plates.
Not only are the drivers noisy and performing a criminal act, witnesses say it’s only a matter of time before someone, either a driver, passenger or passer-by is hurt.
“It’s an area used by many walkers every day,” a witness said.
“People walk at night too. One morning there were people hooning in cars there just before 6am. It won’t be long before some poor person is knocked over or the drivers lose control and hit the trees or a house.”
Neighbours surrounding the reserve have reported previous incidents to police and are looking to start a petition to lobby for a security camera to be installed on the site.
Witnesses of these events should report them to police as they are occurring noting registration plates if possible.
