Proceeds from the auction will help Shelley on her way to preparing for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.
Shelley donated a signed, framed set of her boxing gloves from the Rio Olympics, where she competed in 2016.
The display cabinet which house the prized gloves was hand made and donated by the Kendall Men’s Shed and the glass donated by Camden Haven Glass and Screen Solutions. Jeannine Dempsey placed the winning bid for the gloves.
All up, the auction raised over $550 for Shelley.
With the her sights firmly set on the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Shelley has relocated to the Illawarra region and is joined the Forte Boxing Academy.
Since experiencing disappointment at the Olympics last year, where she lost in a controversial split decision in the first round, Shelley said to fans on Facebook that the road has been hard.
“Yep, falling hurt! But what would've hurt more, was not being brave enough to make the climb back up!” she posted on her Shelley Watts – Boxer page.
“I'm on my way back. With the help of an amazing team and I cannot wait to see how much more I can grow inside and outside of the ring.”
