It also marks William Tyrrell’s sixth birthday with the Where’s William campaign to bring him home using it as an opportunity to reignite interest in his mysterious disappearance.

Hastings residents are invited to light a candle for William on Monday night to mark his sixth year and to reinvigorate conversation that may provoke someone who knows something to speak out.

“It will be 1019 sleeps since he was abducted,” the Where’s William campaign page said.

“1019 sleeps since he was taken from those he loves and who love him.

“1019 sleeps since he felt their loving arms around him and 1019 sleeps of unimaginable heartbreak, fears and countless tears.

“On his special day, please join us in lighting a candle for William – a candle of love for this little man and a candle of hope – hope that soon William will be found and returned to the arms of his family where he belongs.”

The abduction of the then three-year-old on September 12, 2014 from his grandother’s home in Kendall tore the family and the local community apart and touched the hearts of people across the nation.

In September 2016 a $1 million reward for William’s safe return or recovery was announced.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin leads the Strike Force Rosann investigative team and said they will not give up until this case is solved.

The magnitude of the investigation has included 2800 reports to Crimestoppers, 196 reports directly to Strike Force Rosann, and 1078 sightings of William. The Strike Force has collected 11,000 pieces of information and 628 exhibits, canvassed 450 addresses and interviewed 690 persons of interest. The Strike Force, led by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, has been boosted by a secondary contingent - Strike Force Rosann 2 - drawing in recruitments from the Armed Hold up Squad, Sex Crimes and Fraud Squad and officers from local area commands across the state.
