Just over 4600 people had voted at pre-poll centres in Port Macquarie and Laurieton by the end of July 20.
Some 3594 people lodged their votes at the Port Macquarie pre-poll centre in its first four days. The Laurieton centre recorded 1009 voters over the same period.
The Wauchope pre-poll centre opened on July 22.
Mayoral candidate Cr Sharon Griffiths said a lot of voters arriving at the pre-poll centres had already decided who they were voting for.
Meanwhile, mayoral candidate Cr Lisa Intemann said it was great to meet people down on the hustings.
Mayoral candidate Lauren Edwards said The Greens had some keen volunteers at pre-poll voting centres.
Mayoral candidate Peta Pinson acknowledged the supporters who were handing out material for the candidates.
Mayoral candidate Cr Rob Turner said there had been a pretty big response to pre-poll voting with a range of feedback received from the community.
