On closer investigation they discovered the object was in fact a turtle which had braid fishing line wrapped around its front flipper and head.
The friends didn’t hesitate to help the turtle. Chris said they tried for a very long time to get the turtle into the boat to remove the line.
“The turtle was super fast so despite many attempts we just couldn’t catch it,” he said.
Eventually they managed to direct the turtle to shallow water where Cody jumped out of the boat and caught the turtle. They got the turtle into the boat to remove the line.
Chris said the fishing wire was old and had cut into the skin of the turtle. During the whole process Chris said the turtle wasn’t in any distress.
They released the turtle back into the water where it swam away.
Chris and Cody also came across a second turtle which they saw while they were driving.
“It’s pretty rare to see a turtle let alone two in one day,” Chris said.
