North Haven resident responds to comments on Bridge Street closure

In the Courier published on September 13, Michael Brennan advocated the closure of Bridge St at the Ocean Drive intersection because of his concerns that cyclists and pedestrians may not be able to slow down sufficiently when coming off the bridge to safely cross Bridge St.

However, the cycle way is actually on the southern side of the new bridge (the River St side), with an underpass to assist entry onto and exit from the bridge.

The northern side of the bridge (currently used by walkers and riders until construction of southern side is complete) will be a designated walkway. I'm sure walkers coming off the bridge will be able to decelerate sufficiently to avoid colliding with vehicles in Bridge St.
