Manager Ross Butlin said the QR codes are linked to their website.
“This provides a more detailed story and information about the area,” he said.
“These signs will have information about the area and have the ability through QR codes to link to the Pilot Station website so that more detailed information can be provided for locals and tourists.
“The grant funded the placing of interpretive signs around the Pilot Station and along the breakwall at Camden Head.”
Mr Butlin said the success of the grant had provided the impetus for volunteers, Pam Vine and Andrew Knight to research vigorously for the most correct information.
He said another volunteer Bruce Urquhart had developed a QR code ready for the signs.
“Pam and Andrew, with the support of the Camden Haven Historical Society, talked with locals and regular visitors to gain a much clearer understanding of the European history of Camden Head.
“One such visitor has been one of Pilot Station’s Artists in Residence, Simon French, whose grandfather used to be a log punt captain on the Camden Haven.
“Simon, who is an award winning children’s author is a regular visitor and has along with his partner Donna Rawlins worked in a number of the local schools.

“Simon kindly allowed the Pilot Station to scan some of his family’s photos. A number of these are of his early holidays in the area.”
Mr Butlin said while the 70’s and 80’s do not seem so long ago these photos are part of the history of our area and sometimes what is in the background (or not) helps to confirm or even change historical understanding.
In addition to the Historical Society the Pilot Station received great support from Mike Dodkin. There are now plans to link the information services to the Beach to Beach and Creek to Creek projects.
The Chamber of Commerce and the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council are also keen on the success of this project, he added.
If you have any photos of the area that may be of interest we would be very keen to scan them and return them to you.
“Preserving our history is very important,” Mr Butlin said. “If you can help our project we would really like to hear from you.”
