The Hastings Photographic Group is hosting the 43rd annual Northern NSW Zone of Photographic Societies 2018 Convention.
The event is on from May 18 until May 20 at the Laurieton United Services Club.
There will be competitions and workshops for delegates from 12 regional camera clubs. An exhibition and presentations are open to the public.
Resident Jody Carey has been a member of the Hastings Photographic Group (HPG) for over two years and will attend this year’s convention for the first time.
“As amateurs we tend to think photo conventions are only for the professionals,” she said.
“Since joining HPG I’ve realised how valuable it is to be part of a photography club.
“There is so much knowledge and everyone is willing to help you learn.
“Looking at photos entered into competitions and listening to comments from judges is an important part of growing as a photographer.”
Entry to the exhibition is by gold coin donation from May 18 until May 20 at the Laurieton United Services Club.
People are invited to hear from an accomplished keynote speaker and from judges on winning photos at a dinner on Saturday, May 19. Tickets are $40.
People can also register for the Sunday, May 20 lectures for $35. Photographers Mark Galer and Malcolm Fackender will share the newest camera technology and tips on travel photography.
