Kendall Tennis Club president Wendy Hudson said the new full-size court and two small Hot Shots courts will enable the club to expand its training and competition programs, particularly for young people.
Construction at the site started on Friday, June 22 and Wendy said it is an exciting development for the 350 members.
The event starts at 4pm on Friday, September 21 and once official proceedings are complete, about 100 players will take to the court.
“We would like as many club members, families and community to come to the opening,” Wendy said.
“You will have the opportunity to see our great junior program in full swing.”
The event will be attended by the chief executive of Tennis NSW Lawrence Robertson and the president of Tennis NSW Wayne Pascoe from Sydney.
The Local Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council mayor Peta Pinson will also be present.
Minister for Racing Paul Toole joined Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams in January to allocate $198,000 for the project. The club also secured grants from Tennis Australia ($28,000) and the Holiday Coast Credit Union ($5000). The club funded the remainder of the cost.
The club is run by hard-working volunteers, with 26 people on the committee.
