Andy and his family were attending his sister’s birthday party at the location on Saturday, February 2. The ring slipped off Andy’s finger while he played a game of cricket.
Andy recruited the help of his family members and said ‘they were crawling on all fours’ in an attempt to find his wedding band.
Unfortunately they didn’t find the ring and Andy sought the help of Darren Vick, from Mid Coast Metal Detecting.
Andy said Darren helped find his sister-in-law’s wedding ring after she lost it at Shelly Beach, Port Macquarie a week ago.
On Sunday, February 3 Andy pointed out the location to Darren and he found the ring using his metal detector in just 20 minutes.
Darren said it was fortunate that Andy knew the location where he lost the wedding ring.
Darren enjoys helping people find their treasured valuables.
“It was worth it after seeing the smile on his (Andy’s) face after I dug the ring up from the sand,” he said.
Andy said it was amazing to have his ring found.
“It survived two high tides,” he said.
“I could have got a new ring but it wouldn’t have had the same sentimental value.”
