Carley tragically lost her life after a car accident on March 9, 2018. She was 17-years-old. 

Carley's mum Sharon entered the rose naming competition, after she saw a photo of the new species of rose and her daughter instantly came to mind. 

"The rose was just such a vibrant pink and also thornless," she said. 

To enter Sharon was required to write 25 words on why the rose should be named after Carley. She wrote about the heartbreaking loss and how the rose reminded her of Carley's natural beauty. 

The entry received nearly 150 votes and Sharon was announced as the winner. 

Sharon has received six rose bushes, each accompanied by a 'Smooth Carley-Rose' label. 

Sharon said she misses Carley everyday and has thanked the community for its ongoing support. 

Carley's room has been kept just the way she would have liked it. Sharon compiled Carley's treasured photos and framed them as a mural to hang on her bedroom wall. 

Sharon said she would always say to her daughter to 'let her natural beauty shine'.

Carley has been remembered by her friends for her warm smile and as someone who always wore her heart on her sleeve. 

In October friends and family came together to celebrate what would have been Carley's 18^th birthday. 

Sharon said it's been particularly hard to cope with the ongoing grief in the lead up to the anniversary of Carley's death on March 9. 

Carley was active in the Camden Haven community and a member of groups, including the Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club and the Camden Haven Eagles. 

The Grown to be Gorgeous group said they were honoured to name the rose after Sharon's 'gorgeous angel Carley-Rose who was taken far too soon'.

"A beautiful rose for a beautiful girl," a spokesperson from the group said. 

The ‘Smooth Carley-Rose’ is available exclusively through Garden Express and will be accessible to the public from mid-2019.
