But it doesn't matter whether they are rowing in the under-19 or under-23 women's division, the young crew continues to rise to the challenge.
Throw in a couple of races against a handful of open women's crews like they did in Coffs Harbour and it's not difficult to see why the Boatettes are arguably the most talented crew on the North Coast.
They were officially awarded the 2019 North Coast Surfboat Series on Saturday with yet another strong showing.
In a day that saw them compete in a combined under-23 and open women's division, sweep Steve Monaghan said it was another strong day.
"With the accrued points no one was going to get near us and there was no pressure on us which was a bit of a luxury," he said.
"It goes to show how good of a season it was.
"Racing against the open ladies was a thrill though; these ladies are quite good athletes and twice as big as the under-19 girls."

The plan for Wauchope-Bonny Hills in the open women's division was to keep pace out to the cans and then see what happened on the way back.
They managed to do that for most of the day, although Woolgoolga proved too good.
"We knew we'd get off the beach faster than any of them but then they'd row us down just with their power and strength," Monaghan said.
"Our goal was to keep up with them out to the cans and then catch our waves really well on the way back; we gave it a good go."
Monaghan said the Boatettes won every race in their under-23 division, but their second and third places in the open women's were the most satisfying.
"The girls were a bit sluggish at the start of the day and then they got better and had five races," he said.
"By the fifth race they were flying along to the fitness is there and the base is there so it was satisfying keeping up with the open women, that's for sure."
They will now head to Broadbeach next weekend for the Australian titles.
It wraps up a successful season where they achieved a sixth-place finish at the world championships in Adelaide last November.
They also finished first at the under-19 Collaroy International Young Guns in January.
