The day looked gloomy with a wet start. The sun came through for the afternoon and dried up the field ready for the Battle of the Haven shield on March 31.
A very physical start from both teams with the Blues opening the scoring.
The Rays cracked the Blues defence with a great try to Peter Blocka Currey, the male model from Mudgee.
The boys then added plenty of pressure before scoring again through Mitch O'Neill and led 10-4.
Beau Wilson, another season recruit scored and converted shortly before half time taking the score to 16-4.
The Blues scored just before halftime to take us to the sheds 16-10.
The Rays started the second half well completing 8 of their first 9 sets, leading to Mitch O'Neills second try of the afternoon with a sneaky 'show and go' and scoring under the sticks with Wilson converting, taking the score to 22-10.
Kendall hit back with 2 quick tries getting the score back to 22-20 with 10 on the clock before Ryan Cronin touched down in the corner to bring the final score to 26-20.
It was great for the boys to bring the Battle of the Haven shield back to Laurieton Hotel for the first time.
Players Player went to Mitch O'Neill for his relentless probing raids from dummy half and tackling all day.
Coaches Award went to young Blocka Currey for an outstanding game up front and leading by example.
Next week we are on the road to South West Rocks for what promises to be another cracking game of footy.
