Margaret Hutchinson said only one parent has been required to attend the school grounds in relation to a student's inappropriate behaviour in 2019.

When Ms Hutchinson first became principal in 2009 mobile phone use at school was just becoming popular.

She said a staff vote ruled out any mobile phone ban at the time.

In 2018 the findings of an independent review into the non-educational use of mobile digital devices in NSW schools was released.

The NSW government announced in response to the recommendations made by review team, the use of mobile devices during school hours would be restricted in NSW public primary schools.

NSW public high schools could choose to opt into the restriction or pursue an individual approach.

Ms Hutchinson said the school has put in place plans, expectations and consequences for students in relation to mobile phone use.

Students at Camden Haven High School are permitted to use mobile phones in class for educational purposes only. Their phones must be switched off and in their bag during class.

Ms Hutchinson said students are permitted to use their phones at recess and lunch.

Camden Haven High School regularly reinforces the rules to students so they are aware of the consequences if they use mobile phones in an inappropriate manner.

The high school had an event on Thursday, March 14 for a National Day of Action against Cyber Bullying.

Students were encouraged to sign a pledge they 'won't be mean behind the screen'.

Ms Hutchinson said unfortunately majority of students who are being impacted by cyber bullying at the school aren't reporting it.

"If something is wrong we can't help if we don't know what the issue is," she said.

The school can link students to agencies for advice and support.

Ms Hutchinson said if cyber bullying does becomes a major problem in the future, the school will take steps to mitigate the issue.
